REKRILL® Nut is a hazelnut shell biopolymer obtained from the valorization of waste from the confectionery industry.
A bio-based material designed for industrial applications in production environments that require good mechanical properties, rigidity, and stability during manufacturing processes.

A high-performance material from hazelnut waste

The organic component derived from hazelnut shells is integrated into the REKRILL® polymer matrix to create a compound with distinctive characteristics.

Robustness designed for demanding challenges

The plant fibers naturally present in the fruit shells promote rigidity and mechanical behavior suitable for various application contexts.
Application tests have also highlighted good resistance to high temperatures, even in the most demanding production environments.

REKRILL® Nut can be processed using injection molding, extrusion, rotational molding, and 3D printing.

The formulation of this hazelnut shell polymer is designed to integrate into existing production processes and flows without requiring modifications to plants or equipment.

The natural “hazelnut” pigmentation and tactile texture make REKRILL® Nut immediately recognizable.

As with all biological polymers in the range, colors and finishes for this variant can also be customized according to project requirements.

How hazelnut waste becomes a functional component of the material

The development process of REKRILL® Nut is based on 3 main phases: raw material recovery, natural filler preparation, and compounding.

Recovery of hazelnut shells from food production

Waste derived from the processing of the Italian confectionery industry is recovered and selected to be transformed into the organic component.

Preparation of the natural filler

Our drying-grinding plant pulverizes the original residue and removes moisture, creating an organic-based powder (called filler) ready to be used.

Compounding and mini-pellets

The filler is mixed through a patented process with the REKRILL® matrix and any bio-based pigments. The resulting blend is then transformed into mini-pellets intended for subsequent industrial processing.
