REKRILL® Bran is a bran-based biopolymer developed by KRILLMAT using selected bran from milling processes in Northern Italy.
An Italian-made bio-based material designed to offer a balance between rigidity, flexibility, and the potential for aesthetic customization.
WHEN BRAN CHANGES DESTINATION
Bran comes from the processing of cereals intended for the food and livestock supply chains. This agri-food by-product, normally destined for other uses, becomes the organic component of REKRILL® Bran: an innovative material derived from bran designed to offer a balance between mechanical performance and aesthetics, suitable for multiple uses.
The combination of plant fibers with different characteristics (soft, semi-rigid, and rigid) gives the biopolymer a balanced mechanical behavior, capable of adapting to very diverse production needs.
The natural beige tone of the bran represents an ideal color base for developing formulations with light, neutral, or more intense colors, depending on the product identity.
REKRILL® Bran easily undergoes various transformation technologies (injection, extrusion, 3D printing, rotational molding) and integrates easily with existing production cycles, without requiring interventions on lines or machinery.
A SIMPLE MATTER, A NEW FUNCTION
Bran, normally excluded from subsequent industrial processing, is recovered and transformed into a material ready to enter the REKRILL® bio-based matrix. A process that restores value to an existing resource.
Selected bran from Northern Italian milling, generated by the food and livestock supply chains, is recovered and transformed into a biopolymer to develop materials for industry.
Drying and micronization, carried out within our plant, allow us to obtain a homogeneous organic filler: a characteristic that contributes to the quality consistency of every REKRILL® Bran batch.
The patented compounding technology allows the filler to be integrated into the REKRILL® bio-based matrix and transforms the filler into mini-pellets ready for subsequent processing. Thus, a bio-material ready for numerous production applications is born from bran.
